Gated Security, does it work?

Gated residential communities are boasted as being safe but are they really safe and is having a gated property a waste of money and time? Does it give a false expectation of security? Having been in the security business for over 30 years I have worked properties with gate controlled access as well as those without. I can say it is my professional opinion that having a gate at your community helps. It cuts down on free access and the public taking advantage of driving onto private properties. The gate is not fool proof and is not the "be all, end all" to securing your property.

Do I Need Security for my business?

Let us ask you a few questions about your business.  Do you or your staff handle large amounts of cash at some point during the day or week?  Does your business operate in the evening or located in a part of the community that is typically associated with crime?  Do you own your own building or business property?
As a successful business owner or property manager  you work hard to maintain your business or organization, so why not make sure it is as protected as it can be? Of course you have insurance that would cover any robbery or break-in, but why not prevent it from happening to begin with?

Don't hire for less!

Are the security companies you hire doing enough when it comes to making sure it's employees are trained and properly confident when dealing with stressful situations especially those that involve armed officers and firearms? Don't be so quick when hiring a agency to handle security situations. Shop around and make sure to check there hystory of suits and incidents involving their staff. Remember, just because they cost the least does not mean they are doing the best. If you want good quality service be prepared the pay for it. It may save you or your company the "Big headache" in the end.

Holiday thefts and safety issues

Going shopping during the holiday season can be disasterous in it's self but purchasing gifts takes it to a whole other level. How many of you know that theives work in teams and they watch for customers purchasing expensive items? They follow the customer from the store via team/radio communication and even to your home. They mark your home as a target location for a hit either then or for a later date.
How many of us have gone shopping for the kids gifts but decide to leave them in the car at home to keep them hidden from the kids?

You should always check with your state licensing agency when hiring security agencies and officers.

What to do if I need personal security services?

Although most celebrities have an entourage of private security guards, the majority of average citizens have no need for such salient protection. However, there are times when an Average Joe needs the services of a private security guard, either because his life is in danger, or because he suspects that he might be the target of a crime some time in the near future.
Unfortunately, hiring a private security guard is expensive, and should be reserved for serious situations in which there are no alternatives.
